Joint Conference ACE / EFCA / ECEC / OAI "Architects + Engineers: Partnership for Resilient Design" Thursday 15 May 2025, 9:00 – 17:00 CEST, European Convention Centre Luxembourg (ECCL)

mercredi 19 mars 2025

For the first time, the Order of Architects and Consulting Engineers in Luxembourg (OAI) and the pan-European organisations representing the architectural profession (ACE) and the consulting engineering companies (EFCA) and the chartered engineering professions (ECEC) are joining forces to organise a common conference that will aim to:

  • showcase how the architectural and engineering professions create resilient design, in line with the New European Bauhaus ambitions;
  • explore challenges they face and innovative tools that can support their collaboration;
  • highlight the specificities of the procurement of design services and make concrete recommendations for the revision of the EU Public Procurement Directive, so that it can best support high-quality design in Europe.

In recent years, thanks in particular to the New European Bauhaus, there has been a growing political awareness of the positive contribution that a high-quality built environment can make to the common good.

The New European Bauhaus invites us collectively to reimagine our living spaces in order to make them more sustainable, inclusive and beautiful and to create enabling conditions for the green transition. It also promotes greater collaboration between stakeholders of the buildings and construction sector, rightly emphasising that a transdisciplinary approach is a prerequisite for high-quality places.

Intellectual services of architects and consulting engineers play a central role in the planning and design of our built environment – from buildings to public spaces and infrastructure. The services they provide therefore contribute significantly to the public interest.

The procurement phase is a critical time in the life cycle of a construction project. The choice of the procedure, its terms and conditions as well as the project brief have a significant impact on the design and construction works and the ultimate quality of what is built and the purposes it serves.

The conference will be attended by around 300 professionals from the built environment from all over Europe, including high-level representatives from the OAI, ACE, EFCA and ECEC, as well as the European Commission and the Luxembourg Government.

Simultaneous English-French translation will be provided.

The conference is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

Upon request, a certificate of attendance can be issued to you after the conference. This may be useful when applying for co-funding of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) e.g. through INFPC, etc.

The conference will be accompanied by a varied cultural and networking programme, running from 14 to 17 May 2025.
